Managing Interview Guides
Key Use Case
Interview Guides act as templates which allow you to save predefined One-Way-Video interview questions that can be re-used when creating similar Projects. They form part of the Candidate Journey and allow organisations to standardise the questions as well as prep time settings across different vacancies. Candidates complete the Application form, do a Skills Test, then answer Video Questions.
Key References to Interview Guides
- Template Logic: Users can create an interview guide from scratch or select an existing one from the list of templates. Like form templates, these are copied into a project rather than linked, allowing for agile adjustments for a specific role without affecting the original master template.
- Building and Editing: The builder used to create or edit video interview questions within a project functions identically to the one in the templates section.
- Breather Settings: Within the guide setup, users can toggle the "Allow breather between questions" setting (on by default). This gives candidates a break before the next question is revealed and the prep time countdown begins.
- Restrictions Once Active: If a candidate has already answered a video interview question, that specific question cannot be deleted or rearranged within the project. Furthermore, new questions cannot be added once an application is considered "complete".
- Visibility: Interview guides are managed within the TEMPLATES section, which is restricted to System Managers and Administrators. These templates can be associated with specific departments to control which admins can access them.
- Usage Recommendation: Wamly recommends using templates as much as possible, even for one-off roles, as it allows users to easily reuse specific questions for future projects without having to manually locate and copy them from old projects.
Access and Setup
To access the Interview Guide Templates click on Templates > Interview Guides in the left hand side menu.
- To create a new Interview Guide click on the “Add New” at the top right hand corner of the menu.
- You are also able to Duplicate, Edit, Deactivate or Delete an Interview Guide by clicking on the three dots on the right hand side of an Interview Guide. (Deactivating an Interview Guide will move it to the bottom of the list).

- Upon creating a new Interview Guide you will need to give it a Name and associate it to the relative Department on the Settings Tab.
- Then click on the Questions Tab and add your questions:
- There are no limits as to how many questions you can add by clicking the “Add Question” field.
- These questions can range in relation to competency, to culture, to motivational or personality as examples.
- Each question can have its Preparation (Prep) and Answer time specified in seconds.
- You can delete questions by clicking on the three dots on the right hand side of the question.
- The total time for all the questions is summed up in a “Total Time” which is visible at the top of the Question Table. This time is also displayed on the Landing Page and Invitation email the candidates sees, to guide them on how long will be required and allow them to prepare a suitable time frame to complete the Video Interview.
- Once you have completed setting out the questions and the time for each question you can click on the “Update” button at the top right of the screen.
